About Par
Par is a village with a harbour on the south coast of Cornwall. The village is situated in the civil parish of Tywardreath and Par, although West Par and the docks lie in the parish of St Blaise. Par Harbour and the beach at Par Sands are south of the village, another small beach is at Spit Point west of the harbour.
Par Local’s Tips
Par is ideally situated on the coast path where you would head West to Carlyon Bay and Charlestown, or East to Polkerris, Gribben Head and Fowey. In-between you will find Par Sands with it’s expansive sandy beach and dunes. There is a popular duck pond and wetland conservation area, and an array of local convenience stores, chemists, and doctors’ surgery. The local primary schools are Biscovey and Tywardreath, and Par is in the catchment area for Fowey River Academy, Penrice and Poltair secondary schools. Par railway station is on the mainline from Penzance to Paddington and is the main connecting line to Newquay.
